  • Who We Serve

    Residents of Virginia.

  • Eligibility

    • For households who earned up to $69,000 in 2025. 

  • Items Needed to Apply

    These are REQUIRED:

    • Valid picture ID
    • Taxpayer Identification Number: Social Security Card, Social Security number verification letter or Individual Taxpayer Identification Notice
    • Proof of Income (W-2s, 1099s, etc)

     

    These are additional:

    • Last pay stub and/or employer documentation if provided tips or overtime pay.
    • Proof of Health Insurance
    • Checking and Savings Account Information
    • Child Care Expenses
    • Mortgage Statements/Property Tax Bills
    • College Tuition/Loan Statements
    • Alimony (paid or received)
    • Notices: Anything that says "IMPORTANT TAX DOCUMENT"

    Walk in during VITA open hours (see below). Staff and IRS-certified tax preparers are ready to assist you.

  • Who We Serve

    Residents of the greater Richmond area. We can also provide referrals for those in Petersburg, Hopewell, Prince George, and Dinwiddie.

  • Eligibility

    • Open to households experiencing food insecurity. 

  • Items Needed to Apply

    Names and dates of birth for all household members and rent amount.

  • Get Started

    Walk in during open hours. Staff will guide you through a brief registration process.

  • How often can I visit?

    Eligible households may receive food assistance once every 30 days. 

    • CAPUP also provides smaller, kitchenless food kits to households without access to a kitchen once a week, on a limited basis. 
  • Hours

    Monday–Thursday, 10:00 AM–12:00 PM

    No appointment required.

  • Who We Serve

    Residents of Richmond, Petersburg, Hopewell, Dinwiddie, and Prince George.

  • Eligibility

    • Applicants must provide an eviction notice.
    • Your balance cannot exceed $800. 
    • Cannot have received assistance in the last year from another organization.
    • CAPUP will only provide assistance for a household one time.  

  • Items Needed to Apply

    Eviction notice, proof of income, valid lease, updated ledger, and a copy of landlord's W-9.

  • Who We Serve

    Residents of Richmond.

  • Eligibility

    • Applicant must demonstrate a crisis.
    • Applicant must provide a disconnection notice, be on an active payment plan, have a budget removal notice, a PIPP disconnection notice (Dominion customers only) or an existing medical certification on file.
    • Customer may be assisted with their primary heating source (i.e., gas, propane, wood, other utilities).

  • Items Needed to Bring

    Valid photo identification and disconnect notice/account number.
